The American Snipe, also known as the Wilson's Snipe, is a medium-sized shorebird found in wetlands throughout North and Central America.

This classic unisex jersey short sleeve tee fits like a well-loved favorite. Soft cotton and quality print make users fall in love with it over and over again. These t-shirts have-ribbed knit collars to bolster shaping. The shoulders have taping for better fit over time. Dual side seams hold the garment's shape for longer.

Here are five fun facts about this unique bird:

  • Unique bill: The American Snipe has a long, straight bill that is flexible at the tip. This adaptation allows the bird to probe deeply into mud and soft soil in search of insects, worms, and other invertebrates.
  • Unusual vocalizations: During breeding season, male American Snipes perform an elaborate aerial display that includes making a "winnowing" sound by fluttering their wings. The sound is created by air rushing through the bird's outer tail feathers, which are specially modified for this purpose.
  • Nocturnal habits: The American Snipe is primarily active at night, when it feeds and vocalizes more frequently. This behavior helps the bird avoid predators and competition with other bird species that are active during the day.
  • Migratory birds: American Snipes are migratory birds and can travel long distances to reach their breeding and wintering grounds. Some individuals have been known to fly as far as 4,000 miles in a single migration.
  • Unique courtship: During courtship, male American Snipes will fly in circles over their chosen mate while making a series of calls and aerial displays. Once a pair is formed, the male will lead the female to a nest site that he has prepared, where she will lay her eggs.
